Avdeevite is a rare phosphate mineral of the whitlockite group, containing magnesium and iron in a trigonal crystal structure. It forms colorless to pale yellow granular aggregates in phosphate-bearing granitic pegmatites. The mineral is named in honor of a Russian mineralogist and is studied for its role in phosphate mineral evolution during the crystallization of complex pegmatites.
