Wortupaite is a rare magnesium iron phosphate mineral discovered in phosphate-bearing granitic pegmatites with elevated iron and magnesium content. It forms pale yellowish to greenish prismatic crystals and is associated with other iron-magnesium phosphate minerals including triphylite and graftonite. The mineral contributes to the systematics of Fe-Mg phosphate mineral diversity in complex pegmatite phosphate assemblages.
