Viskontite is a rare phosphate silicate mineral crystallizing in metamorphic or metasomatic rocks enriched in phosphorus and silicon. It forms colorless to pale white prismatic microcrystals in unusual phosphosilicate assemblages. The mineral is scientifically important as one of few natural examples of a combined phosphate-silicate framework mineral and contributes to understanding P-Si mineral chemistry.
