Bayanoboite-(Y) is a rare yttrium-dominant borate mineral discovered in carbonatite-related alkaline complexes in Inner Mongolia, China. It forms pale yellowish to colorless microscopic crystals within borate-rich metasomatic zones. The mineral is scientifically significant as one of few natural borate phases capable of incorporating significant quantities of yttrium and heavy rare earth elements.
