Tianhongqiite is a rare phosphate mineral first described from unusual phosphate-rich assemblages in Chinese granitic pegmatites or related carbonatite-alkaline environments. It forms colorless to pale white prismatic microcrystals and is of scientific interest for its crystal chemical contribution to understanding rare phosphate mineral diversity in highly evolved Chinese geological systems.
