Selsurtite is a rare titanium niobium oxide mineral discovered in alkaline pegmatites of Norway, one of the world's premier countries for unusual alkaline mineral species. It forms black to dark brownish metallic prismatic microcrystals and is associated with other Nb-Ti oxide phases in nepheline syenite pegmatites. The mineral contributes to the complex mineralogy of the Norwegian Langesundsfjord alkaline province.
