Krügerite is a rare gold silver telluride mineral first described from the Rosia Montana gold deposit in Romania, one of Europe's most historically significant gold districts. It forms minute metallic yellow to pale golden grains associated with other telluride minerals including sylvanite and calaverite. The mineral is of scientific interest as it documents a previously unknown Au-Ag-Te phase in the telluride ore assemblage of epithermal gold systems.
