Ixiolite-(Mn2+) is a manganese-dominant member of the ixiolite group of columbite-related oxide minerals, found in manganiferous rare-element granitic pegmatites. It forms black to brownish-black prismatic crystals with a submetallic luster, commonly associated with tantalite, columbite, and manganese phosphate minerals. The mineral is studied in the context of Mn-Nb-Ta oxide solid solutions in evolved granitic pegmatite systems.
