Ixiolite-(Fe2+) is a ferrous iron-dominant columbite-group oxide mineral, crystallizing in the orthorhombic system as black to dark brownish metallic prismatic crystals. It occurs in rare-element granitic pegmatites enriched in niobium and tantalum, often associated with columbite, tapiolite, and other oxide minerals. The mineral is of scientific interest for its place in the complex columbite-ixiolite-wodginite solid solution series.
