Haywoodite is a rare uranium vanadium oxide mineral belonging to the tyuyamunite-carnotite family, occurring in sandstone-hosted uranium deposits of the western United States. It forms bright yellow to green microcrystalline masses in oxidized uranium ore zones, associated with carnotite and related uranium minerals. The mineral is of economic and radiological significance in the context of uranium exploration in Colorado Plateau-type ore systems.
