Carboferriphoxite is a rare iron-bearing carbonate-fluoride phosphate mineral of the phosinaite group, found in alkaline pegmatites and carbonatite-related rocks. It forms colorless to pale yellow microscopic crystals with a complex mixed-anion crystal structure incorporating carbonate, fluoride, and phosphate groups. The mineral is scientifically notable as a natural example of unusual mixed-anion chemistry in alkaline igneous environments.
