Paulhlavaite is a rare lead bismuth sulfosalt mineral first described from a hydrothermal polymetallic deposit, forming minute metallic gray grains intimately associated with other Pb-Bi sulfosalts and sulfides. It honors Czech mineralogist Pavel Hlavá, and is of scientific interest for adding to the known diversity of Pb-Bi sulfosalt crystal structures. The mineral is primarily known from its type locality.
